Phillip Schofield's relationship with his daughters, Molly and Ruby, has been significantly impacted following the news of his shock affair with a younger ITV colleague.

Just today, September 25, the TV former TV presenter, 62, announced that he will be helming a new Channel 5 show called Cast Away. On Wednesday morning, Phillip shared the news on Instagram, writing: "Now you know how I spent my Summer! Alone for 10 days, no food, no water, no crew. My story of survival, both on a desert island and off it. Cast Away starts Monday on @channel5_tv & My5 at 9pm."

Last year, Phillip left his family in turmoil after admitting to an "unwise" but not illegal relationship with a younger colleague, which led to him abruptly quitting his position at ITV amid the scandal. Schofield was formerly co-presenting both This Morning and Dancing on Ice with Holly Willoughby.

At the time, it was reported that his daughters, Molly, 30, and Ruby, 27, learned of their father’s affair just moments before the news became public, causing feelings of shock and hurt, according to the Daily Mail.

However, in the weeks after the scandal, it is believed that Molly travelled to Cornwall to join her father, who had retreated there to stay with his poorly mother. Reports suggest the two were able to reconcile during this time.

This came just after Phillip moved out of the family's £2 million Oxfordshire home and into a central London flat, which, according to sources.

Phillip shares both daughters with his wife, Stephanie, whom he married in 1993. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Molly left her role at the talent agency YMU to work as her father’s publicist, due to his reputation at the company.

A source shared with the Daily Mail: "Molly was popular at YMU but it was always going to be a little bit awkward working there after what happened. Phillip was part of the furniture there, he was very important and very powerful so things must have changed a lot for her. As recently as three weeks ago she was negotiating with the British media about stories that had been published about her father, acting very much as his PR."

Just recently, Phillip was seen with his family during a walk as they presented a united front. He was also spotted enjoying time with Molly and Ruby as they played with his puppy, Alfie.

Opening up about his new Channel 5 series, the disgraced star admitted: "This is most definitely a first for me and the only thing I felt compelled to do. It appealed to me on so many levels.

"I've recently had a lot of time to think about my life, what went right and what went wrong, but I've always had the safe arms of friends and family wrapped around me. This time it's just me, no 'phone, no comforts, no crew and only lip balm as a luxury.

"I'm looking forward to exploring the island, trying to tie knots to secure my shelter and foraging and fending for myself in the wild with no help.

"Maybe I'll be Robinson Crusoe, or maybe I'll just be Tom Hanks' Wilson and quietly drift off into the wild blue yonder."
