Strictly Come Dancing 2023 star Zara McDermott is said to have more than doubled her wealth since her appearance on the scandal-hit show.

The former Love Island star has also branched out into television documentaries, including a recent one looking behind the scenes at party island Ibiza. Reports filed to Companies House suggest that the media personality's recorded wealth rose from £142,726 in 2022 to £309,913 in 2023, as shared by The Sun.

Zara's Instagram follower numbers have also increased, with her boasting more than two million fans on the app. Meanwhile, her clothing range Rise - which empowers women with the slogan "We rise by lifting others" - is now available in Tesco.

Meanwhile, last week she jetted off to the sunny seaside city of Biarritz in France for a brand-sponsored trip with Loreal Paris. With her phenomenal success, ranging from BBC documentaries to brand partnerships, Zara's fame has soared since her Strictly stint.

The 27-year-old was partnered with Graziano di Prima on Strictly but was later sacked by the BBC over claims of gross misconduct after he kicked Zara during rehearsals.

Zara opened up about the incident on her Instagram Stories, sharing: "Reports have been made about my treatment on the show and there were witnesses to some events, as well as videos of particular incidents which are incredibly distressing to watch."

She also revealed why she hadn't spoken about her experiences earlier.

"I have wrestled with the fear of opening up. I was scared about public backlash, I was scared about my future, I was scared of victim shaming," she wrote.

"But after a lot of conversations with those I love, I've gained the strength to face these fears, and when I was asked to speak to the BBC, I spoke candidly about my time on the show."

A spokesperson for Graziano confirmed that he had "cut himself off" for the sake of his "mental health" after the scandal emerged.

Express.co.uk exclusively reported how he fled to a farm near his childhood home in Sicily, where he found £6 an hour work "digging trenches" and picking fruit in the vineyards where he lives.

In a statement at the time, he revealed on Instagram: "My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime."

While Zara suggested there were multiple occasions when she was subjected to abuse, Graziano claimed he'd kicked the floor in frustration after being affected by the "pressure of the show" and had not intended to kick Zara at any time.

He added: "I'm not a monster. I'm not an abusive man."
