Escape to the Country host Nicki Chapman has released her first ever memoir. So Tell Me What You Want follows the behind-the-scenes story of the 90s and 00s music scene from Nicki, 57, who worked with a number of huge artists during that time.

At the age of 21, Nicki worked her way up in the music industry from being Promotions Assistant at MCA records. Up until the end of 2000, she was a joint partner in the Brilliant! PR company with Nick Godwyn.

They managed Amy Winehouse and represented performers such as the Spice Girls, David Bowie, Kylie Minogue and Take That.

Sharing the announcement of her book on Instagram, Nicki wrote: "A proper reminisce down memory lane, packed full of nostalgia from the late 80s/90s/00s when I worked in the music business. My story …

Oasis seem to be dominating the headlines this week, but I’m going to throw in TT, Spices, Amy, Bowie, M People, Prince, ZZ Top, SC7, Level 42, Billie, Pop Idol, Kylie & Zig & Zag!! All in my memoir plus many more."

Nicki's exciting new venture comes after the presenter revealed she was terrified of dying after discovering she had a brain tumour the size of a golf ball.

Five years ago, when her speech began to slur and her vision became blurred, the former Pop Idol judge sought medical attention. Fortunately, the tumour was benign and she underwent surgery to have part of it removed.

However, Nicki still winces when she considers how close she came. She emotionally shared: "It makes me cry. I have had an amazing life. And, once the bombshell of the tumour dropped, I thought, I don't want to give this life up."

She courageously continued to The Times: "But if this is it, well, how lucky have I been? That sounds so glossy, but I was born with the glass half-full. I found a strength to deal with it. It was either take me now or let me live.”
