Alex Jones announces a new furry addition to her family
Alex Jones has announced that she is welcoming a new dog into her family, just weeks after she moved house after 11 years. The BBC presenter said it was a "complete surprise" and has fallen "head over heels" for her new labrador puppy.
Taking to Instagram, the TV star said: "So, I have a bit of news. On Monday night - and it's taken me a few days to process it - I came home and Charlie was standing in the middle of the drive with what I thought was a jumper.
"And then, this black jumper moved. I got out of the car and said, 'Whose dog is that?' and he said, 'It's ours.' We have a new arrival - come here Scout! We have a new little baby. He's 10 and a half weeks old - he's gorgeous."
Many of her 370,000 followers were delighted with the news and flocked to the comments section. One person gushed: "Gorgeous! Love a black lab, just like ours called Thistle."
A second person also commented: "He’s beautiful! Have fun with him x."

A third fan also typed: "We have just got our first puppy in December he is now 10 months old I have also never had a dog before but would not be without him now xx you will love it !"
Alongside her video, Alex penned: "Big news!!! There is a new addition to the family and it was a COMPLETE SURPRISE (thanks Charlie). It was a huge shock but I’ve fallen head over heels with little Scout, we all have. The children’s faces were a picture!!!
"I’ve never had a dog before so any puppy advice would be most welcome."
The BBC star shares three children with her husband Charlie Thomson. She has previously shared that balancing her work life whilst being a mother has been "difficult" and that she "runs herself ragged."
She said to Fabric Magazine: "I feel super guilty for leaving them [her children]. But I know that I do a job I love and a job that keeps the family afloat. So, I don’t know… I do sort of softplay in the morning and live telly in the afternoon, that’s kind of how my life goes.
"Literally I’m with them right up until the last minute before I need to hop in the car to come to work. And then I rush home to try and do their last story before they go to sleep. I haven’t got the solution – I just basically try and do it all."
