Katherine Ryan experienced a horrifying kitchen disaster and warned fans that there are a number of blunders in the new 2024 series of Cooking With The Stars.

The comedian teased fans about the upcoming show, where a number of celebrities go head to head next month in the kitchen. She is appearing alongside Christopher Biggins, Ellie Simmonds and Carol Vorderman.

She revealed: "I spilled flour and oil all over the floor, and Jack Stein fell on it and nearly broke his neck. I got some slice-proof gloves and I cut through those.

"I also over-boiled my sauté potatoes so they turned into mash - ruined. I tend to overcook things, and I’m bad with volume - I’m a really terrible cook.

"Everything I’ve done has been a disaster - I just don’t have the tips, tricks, and hacks to be put together delicious flavours, or take the time to make things."

The ITV show first aired in 2021 and is presented by Emma Willis. Carol Vorderman said ahead of the series that she is "very good at burning things."

She told The Mirror: "I have had many disasters in the kitchen. Such as souffles that didn’t rise. I am very good at burning things.

"In fact, world champion level at burning things and that’s because my brain is really hippity hoppity so when I have to stand over something and stir it, my brain gets bored and I go off and do something and then fifteen minutes later, I think what is that smell?

"I come back and hope it’s not ruined! When my son Cameron was about eight, we moved to Bristol and we rented a tiny little flat for about a year or so which I loved and we all loved. There was a tiny kitchen and I can remember him saying to me, 'Mum, how do I switch this on' and I said, 'What on darling?' and he said, 'That thing that you burn my pizza in!'"

She added: "My food heaven is Italian food but I also love salad, I love vegetables. I love broccoli and asparagus. My food hell is probably oysters and anything that is too chocolatey! I don’t like that."

Cooking With The Stars airs next month on ITV.
