Maya Jama is reportedly set to take on another significant role on ITV, following her successful Love Island stint. The 29-year-old host is said to have secured a place on The Masked Singer, taking over from Rita Ora who is believed to have left the show to pursue a film project.

The 33-year-old singer is then expected to transition to the American version of the popular guessing game show, where she's been a guest panellist. The Masked Singer is one of ITV's top Saturday night shows and draws in up to seven million viewers from a wide-ranging audience.

A TV insider has said: "This is a huge deal for Maya, who's now one of telly's fastest rising stars. It puts her in front of a massive Saturday night audience every week on a show watched by everyone from children to pensioners.

"Up to now she's had a following which is very young due to Love Island, but signing for The Masked Singer would take her career into a whole new league," they added to The Sun. Rita had been a hit on the ITV show since its inception back in 2020 alongside Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan, however, guest stars such as Olly Murs, Lenny Henry, Jennifer Saunders and Lorraine Kelly, have filled her spot in recent seasons.

The I Will Never Let You Down hitmaker is rumoured to be on the brink of a blockbuster movie deal, following her stint as a guest judge on the Masked Singer US. Filming for the UK version of the show typically spans from September to October, with broadcasts kicking off in January.

Meanwhile, Maya Jama's schedule is usually packed from May to August with Love Island commitments.

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Rita, Maya and ITV for comment.

Away from her workload, Rita enjoys time away from the spotlight with her husband director Taika Waititi, who she married in 2022.

Discussing their relationship on the Table Manners podcast, the popstar said friends has been envious of her marital bliss.

Chatting with hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware, she revealed: "A lot of people have called me saying that they are very jealous of me about my husband. I think it's because it's what you see, What he's like is what he's like."

Gushing further about their relationship, she added: "[We laugh] all the time.

"It's just really nice to be able to be with someone who makes you feel like it's not a job and it's sort of like an existence... not that my past relationships felt like jobs, but it felt like I was responsible to do things in the relationship.

"It was like 'Do you want to go have dinner?' It was making the effort, and I feel like relationships you shouldn't have to think really about them. They just happen, and this one's just really happened. It's nice, it's natural. It's great."

Meanwhile, Maya has been in an on-off relationship with rapper Stormzy since 2015.

After splitting in 2019, the pair confirmed they had rekindled last year after weeks of speculation.

Finally ending rumours, the loved-up duo were spotted walking hand-in-hand during a holiday together in Greece.

Love Island airs daily, except Saturdays, from 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
