Former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse has candidly opened up about her struggles with motherhood, a state she referred to as "mummy paranoia".

The Dancing on Ice judge, 33, welcomed a baby girl last Christmas with her husband Maris Lepure. Their daughter was born prematurely and remained in hospital for six weeks after she was born.

She has since been transparent about the highs and lows of first-time motherhood via social media. Oti got candid with her fans earlier this year, confessing that she repeatedly checks if her baby daughter is still breathing.

Sharing two selfies on Instagram, Oti turned to her followers for advice regarding the anxiety she'd been wrestling with. The professional dancer wrote: "Ok mummies I have a few questions - would love any suggestions/advice.

"This is the face of a mum who should be beaming but I think I'm even more tired. Baby is sleeping so brilliantly every night this week 9pm to 9am (what an angel). But I'm not... because 1. I still have to pump every two to four hours at night, if I don't I will explode."

"2. I'm worried if I don't pump at night, as she's asleep long hours now without a feed, my supply will be less."

"3. All that sleep makes me even more worried because SIDS [sudden infant death syndrome] stays in the back of my mind on a daily, so I'm constantly waking up to check if she's still breathing. So how do I enjoy getting sleep again but not lose my supply and learn to control my mummy paranoia? Oh yes, happy Easter."

Oti's followers raced to the comments with guidance for the TV personality. Dragons Den and mother-of-two Sara Davies penned: "Sending you a massive hug - I remember the exact same feelings, always second guessing if you're doing the right thing."

"What I learnt is that your body constantly adjusts how much it's making to how much your baby needs - so I know it will be an uncomfortable couple of nights not expressing, but after a few days you'll slow down milk production through the night but you won't not be producing enough. xx".

Another added: "Midwife here (and fed my daughters until age 2+). Please don't combine-feed if you don't need to - that will definitely mess either [with] your milk flow. You produce what you need - the more she feeds the more you produce so by expressing at night you're tricking your body into producing more milk."

"You'll have a few nights where you'll have to grit your teeth but then your body will recognise that you need less milk and your boobs will get easier to manage! " one follower advised. "If she starts to need more feeds in the night you will produce more milk for her again. We are magical! ".

A third sympathised: "Oh no Oti! Now it's advice overload! Just do what you think/need to. I feel for you."
