Jeremy Clarkson has received an unexpected apology from Brio Retirement Living after telling them to “f*** off”. The Clarkson’s Farm star hit out at the retirement home company with the expletive-filled four-word response after they offered him an “exclusive invitation” to join them.

The Amazon Prime star shared a picture of the letter from the company, which provides communities for retirees, in view of his 8.1 million Instagram followers this morning. “Dear Occupier, your exclusive invitation is enclosed,” the letter read, to which the 64-year-old bluntly replied: “You can f*** off.”

Since Jeremy shared the post this morning, leaving many of his fans in stitches, Brio Retirement Living has shared an exclusive statement with Express.co.uk. A spokesperson said: “We wholeheartedly apologise to Mr Clarkson for sending him an invitation to our luxurious development in Stow-on-the-Wold.

“We obviously know Diddly Squat about his future retirement plans,” they continued in a tongue-in-cheek manner. “It seems that our inclusive fun retirement village for youthful older people isn’t for him.

“Knowing his views on electric cars we know he wouldn’t like our EV charging points either,” they added. “Saying that, we have reached out to Mr Clarkson to offer him our apologies in person over a drink in our onsite Slate & Grain Brasserie, Bar and Coffee Lounge – and he’s more than welcome to take a look around our properties and meet our very happy homeowners.

Perhaps pushing their luck, they went on to suggest: “On that bombshell … we know he’s very vocal on Instagram and are all hoping for a follow too!”

Fans were rather tickled by Jeremy’s latest post, which has already been liked by more than 287,000 people.

Taking to the comments, some joked that Jeremy’s Top Gear and The Grand Tour co-star James May was pranking him.

“James May sent it to you!” one suggested. Another wrote: “James May sent this.”

Meanwhile, another fan suggested that local farmer Kaleb Cooper had been behind the letter, commenting: “Kaleb definitely signed him up.”

Others quipped the letter had been meant for James himself, with one insisting: “They sent the letter to the wrong house. It was supposed to go to james.” (sic)

“The next series with you and James May,” another wrote with a laughing emoji.

Brio also took to Instagram to join in on the joke, commenting: “Sorry Jeremy – we hold our hands up and apologise as this was meant for James May.

“Any chance you can DM us his address please? Also, do you fancy popping in for a drink so we can apologise in person?

“We’re a youthful bunch here – although we obviously know Diddly Squat about your future retirement plans, but there’s plenty of parking spaces and EV charging points should you require,” they added with a winking emoji.

All three series of Clarkson’s Farm are available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.
