Super Bowl star Usher’s forgotten ‘romance’ with Pamela Anderson after Tommy Lee split
As Usher prepares for the biggest gig of his career, headlining The Super Bowl LVIII's iconic Halftime Show, Express.co.uk has taken a look back at the singer's rumoured romance with Pamela Anderson.
Usher (real name Usher Raymond IV) has described his highly anticipated halftime show performance at the NFL Super Bowl 2024 this weekend as "an honour of a lifetime". The Yeah! singer, 45, is set to entertain fans with a 13-minute show during the coveted performance slot, featuring some of his biggest hits.
The star has made a name for himself as a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and dancer, with eight Grammy Awards to his name and nine Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles. However, back in the noughties, Usher hit the headlines for his love life.
Following Pamela Anderson's whirlwind romance with Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, which ended as the Baywatch actress, 56, filed for divorce for the second time in 1998, she was linked to Usher after the pair were photographed looking cosy together at several major Hollywood events.
The stars were rumoured to have first hooked up in 2006, but they initially shared a sweet exchange on stage at the 2004 World Music Awards. Pamela gave Usher a kiss on the cheek as she presented him with his first award of the night at the ceremony, which was held in Las Vegas.
At the time, Usher's R&B album Confessions had sold over five million copies. The pop star was also honoured at the American Music Awards that very same year, where he bumped into Pamela once again.
This time, the A-Listers looked even closer, as Usher wrapped his arm around Pamela's waist while they shared a moment backstage.
One photo showed the duo gazing into one another's eyes while smiling from ear to ear.
After being pictured together several times, romance rumours started to swirl around Usher and former Playboy model Pamela.
It wasn't long before the blonde beauty was quizzed on the speculation, to which she cheekily responded by branding the U Got It Bad singer "hot".
According to a report from Digital Spy in 2006, Pamela exclaimed of being linked to the hip-hop icon: "Oh gosh, that's a good story. Keep that one going.
"I haven't heard that one before. Usher! Well he is hot."
Around the same time, rumours claimed Usher and Pamela had spent a night together after the glamorous star arranged a meeting during a trip to Atlanta, which is the singer's hometown.
The stars teamed up at the PEACH Magazine Launch Party in the city in Georgia, USA, as Pam had a starring role on the cover.

"Usher seemed mesmerised. They were together all night and doing some serious flirting," a source claimed to the Daily Mirror at the time.
Their seemingly flirtacious behaviour was then captured on camera once again in 2007 at Tao Las Vegas' New Year's 2007 Celebration, which was hosted by Pamela and Pauly Shore.
In one steamy photo, Usher smiled coyly as Pamela, who looked stunning in a skintight little black dress, appeared to cheekily nibble on his ear.
Usher didn't address the speculation of his reported short-lived fling with Pam, and later on in 2007, he got into a serious relationship with his now-ex-wife Tameka Foster.
Nowadays, Usher is in a happy relationship with Jenn Goicoechea, who is the Senior Vice President of A&R at Epic Records.
The couple share two children, daughter Sovereign Bo, and son Sire Castrello Raymond.
Usher is also dad to sons Naviyd Ely, 12, and Usher V, 13, from a previous relationship.
Meanwhile, Pamela is currently believed to be single, after splitting from her fifth husband, bodyguard Dan Hayhurst, in 2022.
She has two grown-up sons, Brandon and Dylan, from her first marriage to rocker ex Tommy Lee.
The 2024 Super Bowl kickoff is set for 6.30 pm ET/11 pm GMT on Sunday (February 11). British fans will be able to watch the game and Usher's halftime performance on ITV1.
