Carl Weathers cause of death confirmed after Rocky star's tragic death aged 76
Carl Weathers, best known for playing Apollo Creed in the Rocky films, has died aged 76, with his cause of death being confirmed by his family.
Carl Weathers, the star of Rocky films and The Mandalorian, has sadly passed away at the age of 76.
His family confirmed his death in a statement to Deadline, saying: "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers. He died peacefully in his sleep."
The official cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
The family's statement continued: "Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life.

"Through his contributions to film, television, the arts, and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognised worldwide and across generations.
"He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend."
Before his rise to fame with Rocky, Weathers appeared in films such as Bucktown or Friday Foster.

In the late '80s, he also starred in the first Predator film alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Continuing his five-decade film career, Weathers also starred in the world-famous 1996 hit Happy Gilmore.
His character, Derrick 'Chubbs' Peterson was a pro golfer who had to quit the tour after an alligator took his hand.
But, his big break in Hollywood came with his role as Greef Karga in the Disney Plus series The Mandalorian.
His brilliant performance in the series bagged him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor.
Weathers' Rocky co-star has not yet commented on his tragic passing, while Adam Sandler has already shared a heartfelt tribute.
