Schwarzenegger signs egg bill to protect chickens
Action man-turned-California Governor ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER can add chicken champion to his impressive resume after signing new legislation that forbids state farmers from playing foul with their fowl.
The new law, which comes into effect in 2015, requires that all eggs sold in California come from hens that are not crammed into cages.
All birds must be able to stand up, fully extend their limbs and lie down without touching each other or the sides of their cages.
A Humane Society spokesman has applauded the Terminator for his chicken welfare stance, stating, "Californians have made it clear that they don't want unsafe eggs from hens crammed into cages, and we applaud the Legislature and governor for heeding this call."
