Kathy Burke shuts down Gimme Gimme Gimme return rumours: 'Get the f*** over it’
Kathy Burke has been forced to shut down rumours of her 90s sitcom Gimme Gimme Gimme returning as a movie.
Kathy Burke, who starred in the BBC’s slapstick sitcom Gimme Gimme Gimme between 1999 and 2001, has issued an update following rumours of her character Linda La Hughes’ return to our screens.
A convincing new poster advertising a Gimme Gimme Gimme movie has been circulating around social media, but sadly it doesn’t appear to be the real deal.
Instead, one fan had made a professional-standard looking poster for the imaginary film, which showed Linda on a motorcycle with the tagline: “The most beautiful woman in the world is back.”
Gimme Gimme Gimme followed delusional flatmates Linda and Tom (James Dreyfus) as they searched for the perfect man despite no one actually being able to tolerate them.
In view of her 549,500 Twitter followers today, Kathy shared the poster with some rather disappointing news.
“Good morning, twits,” she wrote. “This is all over my notifications.
“It’s a fabulous mock up but it’s fake,” she clarified, undoubtedly dashing the hopes of fans everywhere.
“We have no intention whatsoever of reviving the show in any way shape or form so get the f*** over it, guy and have a lovely day,” she added with a winking and kissing emoji.

Fans subsequently took to the comments section to express their disappointment over the announcement.
Kylie wrote: “A good mock up and a shame. Linda was always my fave character ever, a film on her would have been fab. There was never any need for Tom. Stay well and lovely.”
“Aww I just got excited and disappointed in a split second,” Kirstie lamented.
While Sean wrote: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! The show remains one of my faves to this day - it’s perfect as it is.”
“This or a live stage show would have been terrific, but fair enough it can remain as the classic it is,” added Liam.
Gimme Gimme Gimme is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
