Ricky Gervais slams celebrities ‘moaning’ about lockdown

Ricky joined talkRADIO host Kevin O’Sullivan for his Saturday afternoon phone-in show. Asked for his thoughts on his fellow celebrities “trapped in their mansions with swimming pools” during the UK coronavirus lockdown Ricky did not hold back.

The Office star raged: “I am not going to point the finger or slag anyone off.

“You're not going to hear me complain when there are nurses doing 14-hour shifts and not just nurses.

“Cleaners, porters, key workers. You are not going to hear me complain.

“You know what you won't hear me complain but you know if the shoe fits.

“But yeah, it is embarrassing. It's embarrassing anyway when celebrities moan about anything.

“I want to go, ‘You've already got everything!

“‘Stop it! Why are you doing this?

“Some celebrities want to be loved.

“So, they think, ‘I know I make them feel sorry for me’.

“It doesn't work!

“People will go, ‘Why am I going to feel sorry for a multi-millionaire when I can't pay for myself?!”

Host Kevin agreed, saying: “Yeah, a multi-millionaire in their hot tub and in their mansion!”

It comes as Ricky secured a lucrative Netflix deal for the latest season of his show After Life, reported the Daily Mail.

Ricky said he had “no money growing up” earlier this week.

He added: “'I realised all the best things were free — friends, nature, learning and health care.

“And that's why I pay my taxes. And why I clap the NHS."
