Holly Willoughby: ‘The pain!’ This Morning star left stunned over struggling mum advice
HOLLY WILLOUGHBY, who hosts This Morning alongside co-presenter Philip Schofield, was left seemingly baffled during today’s episode after Vanessa Feltz gave advice to a struggling mother who was having problems with her partner.
This Morning: Vanessa Feltz gives advice to ‘struggling’ parent
Holly Willoughby, 38, was joined on the ITV daytime sofa by Vanessa Feltz, 57, during a segment where they speak to viewers about issues in their lives. A caller, who went by the name of “Karen”, asked whether she was being unreasonable by offering her partner an ultimatum over their three-month-old. She said her partner had been ignoring her calls and not regularly seeing the child. The caller asked: "Am I being unreasonable in telling my partner to step up and be a dad or get out of my life? We live apart, have a three-month-old baby.
You're doing everything on your own, the hurt and pain
“He never comes over to see him, he ignores me when I call him, I have another son so it's very hard to do everything. I just get on with it. Am I being unfair giving him an ultimatum?"
But Vanessa insisted that she should give her partner “a chance to be a parent”.
She said: “Well the baby's only three-months-old so there are dads and mums that find it very hard to bond with a new baby.
"But once the child's a little bit older they really do get into much more of a relaxed gig.”
She finished: “Lots of people of all sexes say 'I don't very much like new babies'. So I'd give a longer chance."
Holly and co-star Phillip Schofield, 57, were seemingly left shocked after the agony guru's advice.
Phillip quickly interjected: “But they live apart.”
This did not steer Vanessa from her original point as she advised the caller to give her partner more time.
A shocked Holly remarked: "I just think that when you've got a three-month-old baby and you're exhausted and you're doing everything on your own, the hurt and pain..."
She added: "I get that you don't want to close the door because it's so important for the child to have a relationship with their father - I get that."
“Give him a chance to step up!” Vanessa exclaimed.
The ITV favourite did not appear convinced, as she asked: "But to keep trying to organise picnics?"
Her co-star seemingly appeared to agree with Holly as he stated: “It would be great if he could become a dad.
“But after six months? Biff him!”
Holly who has been married to her husband Dan Baldwin for over a decade, share three children together; Harry, nine, Belle, seven, and Chester, four.
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
