Karen Clifton: Strictly star speaks out after tearful appearance with partner Charles Venn
KAREN CLIFTON has broken her silence after she looked close to breaking down in tears alongside Charles Venn on Strictly Come Dancing 2018 last night.
Strictly: Karen Clifton gets emotional over judges comments
Karen Clifton and Charles Venn got immense praise from the Strictly Come Dancing 2018 judges yesterday, following their moving Rumba. The professional dancer looked tearful after getting feedback on their emotional routine to Maria from West Side Story. The 36-year-old and her actor partner, 45, scored 35 points during Musicals Week, sadly putting them joint bottom on the leaderboard. And, speaking out after their latest routine, she updated her 140,000 Twitter followers with a sweet post.
So proud of you for dancing such a beautiful Rumba with me, Charles Venn
Karen shared a video of their performance, which was captioned: “Move over Tony and Maria, tonight it's all about @ChuckyVenn and @karen_hauer #Strictly.”
She then wrote: “So proud of you for dancing such a beautiful Rumba with me. Thank you @ChuckyVenn.”
The Venezuelan star later got a reply from Charles, who simply shared three black hearts alongside her words.
Karen had looked touched after judge Craig Revel Horwood claimed it was “the best male celeb Rumba we've ever had”.
The 53-year-old, who gave him a eight, said: “I think you coped really, really well. You have to be aware of your free arm and the expression you put into that.
“It's the most masculine Rumba I've seen,” while the rest of the panel awarded them nines.
Darcey Bussell continued: "To see you lead that Rumba, it's so rare for the guy to have control, and you had control.
“The two of you together, oh my goodness! I felt the balance, it had meaning all the way through."
Head judge Shirley Ballas said: "You put the advanced [Latin] steps in. Your hip action was great, you had sensitivity. You had a masculine role, and you brought that together. Congratulations."
Bruno Tonioli added: "You created an incredible atmosphere. I liked the fact you made it very tender, very touching. Many men have crumbled in Rumba, you've triumphed."
However, during the live offering, Charles became the new favourite to be eliminated this evening, according to bookmakers Coral.
Strictly's Charles says he couldn't believe dance off vote
He was given odds of 5-4, followed by Lauren Steadman on 7-4 and Ashley Roberts with 7-1.
"We had made Lauren the favourite to be the one to go, expecting Charles to score higher.
“However Lauren really upped her game and her score of 35 could well be enough to keep her safe coupled with her strong public support,” a spokesperson told Express.co.uk.
Charles later appeared to hit out at the Strictly judges’ scores on the micro-blogging site.
Strictly Come Dancing 2018 continues tonight at 7.20pm on BBC One.
