Lewis Hamilton Instagram: ‘Mamma I made it’ F1 star makes big discovery ahead of US GP
LEWIS HAMILTON will be hoping he becomes the Formula One World Champion for the fifth time this weekend at the United States Grand Prix, but beforehand the Mercedes driver revealed surprising news to his 7.6 million Instagram followers.
The 33-year-old Formula One driver shared a discovery with his social media followers while he was out in New York City yesterday.
As he filmed himself in the centre of Times Square, he moved the camera up to one of the billboards which showed the sportsman kitted out in his driving gear on the Nasdaq building.
He captioned the post: “Mamma I made it, that’s me on the @nasdaq building in Times Square.”
In the short video, he filmed himself saying: “Hi guys, I’m out in New York City. I’m in Times Square right now here with Nasdaq.
It is incredible
“Look at that…wooh it’s incredible. Got to enjoy this. It is incredible.”
Fans congratulated him as they bombarded the Formula One driver with praise.
One person wrote: “You deserve it @lewishamilton.”
Another person said: “Champ all the best for this weekend. Hope you wrap it up on Sunday. Well done for being the role model so many young people need.”
A third person added: “Lewis you are the man. Go clear this weekend.”
Lewis will hope to claim his fifth world title at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas this weekend.
Earlier this week, it was revealed Lewis travelled on his 106th flight in 10 months despite his advocacy of reducing air pollution.
Last year, the F1 star announced he moved to a plant-based diet in September 2017 in order to reduce his carbon footprint.
He explained to BBC Sport: “I stopped eating red meat two years ago. I have generally been pescatarian for the majority of the year and now I’ve cut fish.
“As the human race, what we are doing to the world… the pollution coming from the amount of cows that are being produced is incredible,” the F1 ace continued.
“They say it is more than what we produce wth our flights and our cars, which is kind of crazy to think.”

In addition, Lewis has also spoken out about cruelty against animals and said it is “horrible”.
He said: “The cruelty is horrible and I don’t necessarily want to support that and I want to live a healthier life.”
Meanwhile, Lewis recently hit the headlines after rumours emerged he is dating rapper Nicki Minaj.
The pair posted snaps on each other’s Instagram pages looking cosy as they enjoyed fun on ATV’s out in the desert together in Dubai.
Nicki and Lewis first sparked rumours they were dating after they were pictured together at New York Fashion Week this year.
