The beautiful viewpoint that has been named one of UK's best natural wonders
This Scottish hill is one of the best nature spots in the UK with incredible views of the surrounding scenery.
The UK is not short on natural beauty spots - but very few are just minutes away from a bustling city centre. Arthur’s Seat, in Edinburgh offers incredible views over the city and is an iconic landmark in Scotland.
Recent Netflix hit show, One Day, based on David Nicholls novel of the same name made the spot an even more iconic attraction.
The site attracts thousands of visitors each year, so it's best to visit out of season to see the best views and have the place to yourself.
Time Out named the popular Scottish viewpoint one of the best natural wonders in the UK and it’s an unsurprising pick as no trip to Edinburgh is complete without a trek to the top.
A towering 251 metres above sea level, views from the top include mountains, sea and aerial views of the city. The name of the hill remains a mystery to this day, but rumours say the legendary Kingdom of Camelot was located nearby and so is named after the fabled King Arthur himself.
The hill is a perfect place to see the sunrise or sunset and is also a great place for an autumn picnic before the colder months set in.
One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “While not always easy, this hike is worth the effort. With a panoramic view of Edinburgh, the sea, and Holyrood, this hike will take your breath away. It can be crowded but there’s plenty of room to roam the green hills. Wear comfortable shoes and take water and enjoy the best of Edinburgh.”
In the city of Edinburgh, there are plenty of other places to visit and things to see. If you’re interested in the history of the area, you can visit Edinburgh Castle which hosts several exciting events throughout the year such as concerts and light shows.
