Harrogate in Yorkshire has been crowned the UK's premier staycation spot for a scenic drive, outshining other favourites such as Stratford-upon-Avon and Anglesey.

Located in the district and county of North Yorkshire, the Victorian spa town is known for its natural charm and quaint attractions that attract visitors from all over the world.

It boasts the highest 'happiness rating' of 7.8 out of 10, according to driving experts from the AA, who assessed various factors including accommodation options, local contentment levels, availability of car parking, petrol stations, and EV chargers.

The allure of staycations continues to grow, with many Brits opting to discover the splendours within the UK rather than travelling abroad.

The AA's analysis aimed to pinpoint the "ultimate top 10 locations for the perfect staycation" by examining key travel and leisure metrics.

Harrogate emerged victorious, offering an impressive array of 62 activities, the iconic Betty's Cafe and Tea Rooms, RHS Harlow Carr gardens, and the natural beauty of Brimham Rocks.

It's also surrounded by beautiful countryside, including the Brimham Rocks beauty spot.

This country park allows you to explore some dramatic, weird and wonderfully shaped rock formations created by an immense river millions of years before the dinosaurs even walked the earth.
