Hidden at the foot of the Surrey Hills, there's a magical lake with such pristine freshwater that swimmers are keen to keep it under wraps. Just off the M25, this former sand quarry is a secluded haven, complete with relaxing saunas, invigorating ice baths and wellness retreats.

Divers Cove, located in southeast Surrey, is a popular spot for open water swimming, with bathers praising its benefits for mental and physical health. With its crystal clear waters and sandy beaches, you'll feel like you're on holiday without leaving the county.

The lakeside hosts yoga and breathwork sessions coupled with cold ice baths, providing a fantastic opportunity to unwind and connect with nature. Two wood-fired saunas, twinkling with fairy lights, add to the serene atmosphere.

Friday nights offer the chance to refuel with pizzas and other pop-up snacks after a refreshing swim. Morning visitors can enjoy baked goods and bacon sandwiches for breakfast, reports Surrey Live.

Visitors are catered for with heated male and female changing rooms and on-site parking. And for those needing equipment, wetsuits and other wild water swimming gear, such as swimming hats and tow floats for added safety, can be hired or purchased from the on-site shop.

One user couldn't hold back their enthusiasm in a Google review, they said: "I really don't want to say too much about Divers Cove, but this is because rather selfishly I want it kept a secret!

"So, I won't say that it is a well-run venue, with a relaxed style of management that aims to allow access to open water swimming for everyone, be they a first-time splasher or a semi-pro triathlete."

They praised the staff and the atmosphere, they added: "All the staff are friendly and will make time to chat, and you never feel alone. It's a superb place to make new friends and to push yourself in a non-competitive environment."

According to glowing Google reviews, vigilant lifeguards keep watch with binoculars from the water's edge.

One thrilled swimmer shared their experience: "I'd always wanted to try open water swimming but had been a bit anxious about it. I decided to take the plunge (pun fully intended) and do the open water course at the start of the month, and am now swimming regularly at Divers Cove."

They continued: "The course was very helpful (our teacher Rona was great) and it included a guided swim, which for my first experience of lake swimming really helped my confidence. Everyone is super friendly and the water couldn't be nicer, especially with the heat we've had this season. Looking forward to swimming for the rest of the summer and hoping I can stick it out when the weather cools down too! ".

For those eager to dive in, bookings are made online. A single swim session is priced at £10.49, while a sauna session will set you back £11.99.
