Forgotten Greek Island to visit with crystal clear water and beautiful beaches
Looking for somewhere to travel that isn't the usual Spain, France or Italy. Then this island may be the answer.
Thinking of somewhere to go on holiday this year?
While you can go to the usual holiday hotspots of France, Spain and Italy have you ever thought about something off the beaten track?
We're talking about Paxos in Greece. It is a small island going by a seven-mile by two-and-a-half mile just off the south coast of Corfu.
It is such a tiny island that you can even drive the length of it in just 20 minutes. That means there's no traffic at least!
The roads there aren't for the faint-hearted though as it has a winding route of the asphalt.
You can also get a boat around Paxos. During the summer months, people on the island are spent going into the cove of clear water, lapping up the sun and diving into the sea to cool down.
Renting a boat on the island is pretty simple to do and you circle the Paxos at a gentler pace than compared to somewhere like Mykonos.
Even better there are 12 beaches you can choose to relax on including, Mesovrika Beach, Voutoumi Beach, Monodendri Beach, Pounda Beach, Logos Beach and Levrehio Beach to name a few.

All of them have crystal blue water and stunning views to take in.
You can also visit Mongonissi village which is in the harbour of the island’s southern tip. It is just four kilometres south of Gaios and is linked to Paxos by a small bridge. This is where you can stop off and soak in the views and beautiful sunsets it has to offer.
While many places you go for a break it is fast-paced Paxos offers a slower way of life where you can watch the world go by.
You relax by the beach, sit and watch the local fisherman bring in his catch of the day to sell or have a nice cold drink in one of the cafes the island has to offer.
How to get to Paxos
There are several airports where you can fly to Paxos however, you'll have to go to Corfu first.
Jet2 flies to Corfu and has an average flight time of three hours. Then from Corfu, you have to catch a ferry which can take one to two hours to Paxos.
There are several hotels and apartments available on the island with prices varying at the time of booking.
