The most dangerous countries in the world have been revealed by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in their annual Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report.
The report analyses the tourism in 136 countries around the world to compile the list.
To form the ranking, the WEF “measures the extent to which a country exposes tourists and businesses to security risks mainly related to serious harm to people (violence and terrorism).”
And one country which makes the list is a popular destination for my British tourists.
The country of Thailand made the list at number 19, with the south recording 6,500 deaths in the past 13 years.
Not only is the region that includes provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla high in violence, but martial law is currently in effect.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has issued a warning for the four provinces.
The website states: “Since 2004, there have been almost daily attacks in Thailand’s deep south, including arson, bombings and shootings.
“No British nationals have been killed in these attacks, but some foreigners have been killed and injured.
“The FCO advise against all but essential travel to the provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat and Songkhla.”
