My most memorable holiday was a week in Kefalonia
WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE HOLIDAY?
A week in Kefalonia, Greece, last July with Liam.
It was after Bake Off had been filmed.
I remember floating around in the pool, thinking, “Gosh, I have won Bake Off!”
Growing up, mum and dad worked so that we could go on holiday.
We were taken to Thailand, America and the Caribbean usually having a two-week holiday in the summer and a week in Europe earlier in the year.
AND YOUR WORST?
I almost drowned on holiday in Mexico.
I went to Acapulco when I was 16 and got sucked under a wave by the undercurrents.
My arms, chest, knees, chin, and feet were all grazed from colliding with the sand.
It was really scary.
A year later we went to Cuba and lived on pineapple, bread and rice for a week as the food was pretty bad.
They served us sprouts one day for lunch.

BEST SOUVENIR?
Shells from the beach in Kefalonia.
I keep them in my pocket or in the car to remind me of the holiday.
I also bring back kitchen supplies like pasticcio pasta from Greece.
BEST HOLIDAY READ?
A Harry Potter book.
I am always rereading them.
I am a huge reader, and will take about seven or eight books.
Writers like Sophie Kinsella and Adele Parks also suit me.
I am always reading Harry Potter books
HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME ON HOLIDAY?
Being on the beach or by the pool, reading and chilling out.
I always find a market to explore and make a point of eating in local restaurants.
I make sure I find a bakery.
Liam and I like city breaks – Paris and Barcelona are favourites.
WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO REVISIT?
Mum and dad took us to the Dominican Republic so I’d like to go back for a chill-out holiday.

WHERE NEXT?
In September I’m doing lots of food festivals.
After that, maybe Greece or Dominica for some eating, drinking and laughing.
Vietnam is another place I’m thinking of visiting.
Candice will be appearing at Ascot Racecourse’s Festival of Food & Wine (ascot.co.uk) on September 9.
Her book, Comfort: Delicious Bakes And Family Treats, is out now.
