UK V USA: An American admits to 23 reasons why Brits are BETTER
Americans have finally admitted that the British do things better.
Brits do 23 things better than Americans, according to an American
There’s no doubt the two cultures are wildly different.
But according to the internet, one is better than the other.
A question posed on content site Quora has incited a 23-strong list of reasons the UK is better than the USA.
From food to holidays to popular fiction, the list favours the Brits in every way.
American Ivy Lee says Brits make better chocolate, cheeses, cakes and alcohol
'Double fisting is not what you think it is'
They have a greater grasp of sarcasm, irony, self-deprecating humour and the entire English language
Given the answer was written by Ivy Lee, an American woman, bias has been ruled out.
Though some reasons are more explicitly opinion than fact.
Number 21, for instance, is hard to verify (but undeniably true): “They have a greater grasp of sarcasm, irony, self-deprecating humour and also, the entire English language.”
It’s hard not to see the truth in number 20 either: “They make better and greater varieties of chocolates, cheeses, cakes, alcoholic beverages and dishes with questionable names (bubble and squeak, spotted dick, singing hinnies).”
Full English breakfasts trump sugary American cereals according to Ivy
Brits have done something right when it comes to naming different items, as number one and two suggest.
The first reason on the list said: “They call hamburger beef burger because it's clearly made of beef.”
It was closely followed by: “They call soccer football because it's clearly played with the foot.”
It’s hard to argue that the full English trumps sugary preservative-filled cereal and 28 days holiday leave is far better than 10.
Apparently Brit are better at queuing than Americans, among other things
Number 13 weighs up the fiction wars and swiftly decides Brits win, reading: “They produced Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Chronicles of Narnia, Sherlock Holmes while we produced Twilight.”
The long list of musical talent born in the UK was also pointed out, including Adele, David Bowie, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Coldplay, Radiohead, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
Apparently Brits are better at politeness, apologies, queuing and profanities - all considered to be good things.
And though the final reason screams subjectivity, at least one American believes: “The English accent is more attractive than the American accent. This is just an indisputable fact of nature.”
Another American recently revealed 42 reasons she thinks Brits are downright strange after she spent 10 months living in the UK.
