Brit Lyndsay Johnson was gobsmacked when she woke up to the breathtaking beauty of Niagara Falls from her hotel room, having not realised its grandeur upon arrival the night before.

Lyndsay, who recently embarked on a holiday across the US and Canada, had planned an overnight stay at the iconic falls, famed for their majestic views.

She never anticipated that her hotel room would offer such an incredible view, especially considering the price she paid.

The thrifty traveller snagged the room for a mere £220 ($287), a steal for such a prime location.

"When I arrived at the hotel it was evening and dark outside, and the curtains in my room were closed," Lyndsay recounted.

She went on to say: "I stood in front of them and wished out loud that the view would be good, but nothing could have prepared me for how spectacular it was when I eventually opened the curtains.

"The horseshoe falls were right outside my window; it was magical and everything I hoped for I burst into tears!".

Lyndsay was over the moon at witnessing such a stunning sight without breaking the bank. Her story has since captured the imagination of social media users, with one commenter expressing envy: "I would not be sleeping, you'd just see me at the window."

After her night in Niagara Falls, Lyndsay headed to Toronto to complete her holiday. She took the transatlantic trip by herself and frequently enjoys travelling alone. Lyndsay documents her adventures online and hopes to inspire others to try solo travel.

She said: "When people hear I'm on holiday or travelling by myself, they usually tell me I’m brave and then after a pause they tell me they wish they could do it.

"I want to use my platform to empower others and help them to take that trip. TikTok has been a fun way to document my travels but also to encourage others."
