Brits are being drawn to a fresh holiday hotspot, dubbed the 'new Magaluf', thanks to its cheap beer, pristine beaches and balmy 30C weather.

For years, young Brits have flocked to Magaluf, a Spanish resort known for its party atmosphere and British influence. However, a new destination is starting to attract attention.

Luxury travel company Scott Dunn has highlighted Tanzania as an "up-and-coming" destination for 2024, with bookings among its affluent customers increasing by 83 percent.

Zanzibar, an island off the coast of Tanzania, has seen a surge in popularity recently. Many who visit the lively spot, particularly Zanzibar City, say they wouldn't look back.

This contrasts with Magaluf, which has been trying to distance itself from the UK holiday market with new rules and restrictions. Zanzibar, on the other hand, is hoping to see a boom in visitor numbers.

For Brits on a budget, Zanzibar is an excellent choice as it was named one of the best value sunny destinations worldwide in 2023.

PintPrice reports that pints can be purchased for as little as £1.06, and Hikers Bay suggests that a meal in a budget restaurant in the city could cost as low as £3.84.

A budget double room for two adults can be secured for just £13 - equating to a mere £6.50 per person per night. For the same price, you can also book a spacious room at a B&B with a pool.

Zanzibar's incredible weather is sure to entice sun-seeking Brits. The island boasts an impressive 12.06 hours of sunshine per day during winter, which is 33 percent more than Ibiza.

The island offers plenty of nightlife options, with numerous bars, clubs, and restaurants where Brits can enjoy themselves until the early hours.

Stone Town, the birthplace of Queen's lead singer Freddie Mercury, is another popular evening destination. This old part of Zanzibar City is home to a variety of beach clubs, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs.

The region is acclaimed for its idyllic white sand beaches and the inviting aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean. Boasting coral reefs teeming with vibrant marine life, the city emerges as a diver's haven and a hotspot for water sports aficionados.

Dolphin watching is also a favourite pastime, with the creatures frequently spotted frolicking off the coasts of Zanzibar island, enticing visitors into delightful boat excursions.

In 2023, Dr Aloyce Nzuki from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism announced the Tanzanian government's ambitious goal to double tourist numbers from the UK.

Former British High Commissioner to Tanzania, Sarah Cooke, noted that the nation's allure was "truly unforgettable".

The country proudly hosts the esteemed Serengeti National Park a must-visit for witnessing 'the Big Five': lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinoceros. It's also the gateway to the towering heights of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest peak.

November to March is the perfect period to visit and enjoy a less crowded safari as the rainfall turns the landscape into a lush green. It's also when you are most likely to see newborn animals."

While many Brits may opt for European destinations for their holidays, the lower living costs in Zanzibar can offset the more expensive flights.

Moreover, some popular locations are advising Brits to "stay away", such as Amsterdam, the Canary Islands including Tenerife and Lanzarote, and even Magaluf in Majorca.
