VISIT
If you like getting close to nature and you’re in Wales this half term, head to Dinefwr Castle in Carmarthenshire. This magnificent 12th-century building is set in its very own medieval deer park, where rangers feed the herd of fallow deer – a treat for young and old alike.
There’s also the Newton House art gallery to explore –and that’s just two of the treasures that the National Trust has to offer all year round. For more information, see nationaltrust.org.uk/dinefwr.
WATCH
JK Rowling’s bestselling novel The Casual Vacancy has been adapted into a TV mini series starring Keeley Hawes, Julia McKenzie and Michael Gambon. The three one-hour episodes are set in the idyllic West Country village of Pagford, where dark secrets lurk behind the chocolate-box facade. It’s on BBC1 later this month and we can’t wait.
