WWE news: How Smackdown superstar Big Cass let go after Money in the Bank
BIG CASS was released from WWE today just two days after his match against Daniel Bryan at Money in the Bank.
WWE chief Triple H makes HUGE UK announcement
According to F4WOnline, the publisher and editor of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer claims WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon called a private meeting prior to Smackdown at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio and then fired Cass.
WWE released a statement saying: “WWE has come to terms on the release of William Morrissey (Big Cass).”
No further explanation was given and the wrestling promotion didn’t wish him the best in his future endeavours, as is customary when a superstar leaves the company.
His release comes a month after reportedly landing himself in hot water and infuriating McMahon before Backlash where he feuded with Bryan.
Rumours suggest, the ex-NXT star was involved in a segment with a Bryan impersonator on Smackdown before the Pay-Per-View show and was instructed to hit the person of short stature with a Big Boot before walking out of the ring.
However, the 7ft star thought it would be better to carry on with a beatdown after kicking the imposter in the face and even pitched the idea to McMahon who rejected it.
Nevertheless, according to reports, Big Cass ignored the instructions and went off-script with a series of punches to his fallen foe after hitting him with a Big Boot and caused outrage backstage.
Bryan easily beat Cass at Backlash later on and also got the better of him at Money in the Bank last Sunday when it was expected that the big man would get a big push to the top of the card.
However, Cass tapped out in both matches and left WWE after seven years of service.
Bryan looks set to be embroiled in a feud with Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Bludgeon Brothers who attacked him during a Gauntlet Match.
