Kenny Omega surprise Royal Rumble debut LATEST - Will he join WWE tonight?
KENNY OMEGA has been linked with rumours of a surprise Royal Rumble appearance tonight.
Omega is one of the biggest international superstars in the world and made a name for himself in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
Speculation has been rampant ever since the Canadian wrestler announced that he will leave NJPW after his contract comes to an end this month.
Many have been hoping to see him joining WWE at the Royal Rumble by becoming a surprise entrant in the 30-men over-the-top-rope battle royal, just like AJ Styles did in 2016.
However, it seems like the ex-IWGP Heavyweight Champion will soon be joining the newly-formed All Elite Wrestling.
Kenny Omega has not signed
Rumours suggest that the 35-year-old grappler turned down an offer from WWE as he is more keen to link up with his friends Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks at AEW.
According to Ringside News, the new wrestling company is set to hold a rally in Las Vegas on February 7.
The publisher and editor of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer said they may look to announce more names after their first rally in Jacksonville.
Meltzer, though, insists it is not certain that Omega will become AEW’s newest member.
He said: “They’re trying to bring in names that weren’t in Jacksonville.
“Whatever announcements, you know you can look at the date of the end of Kenny Omega’s contract and you can see that this is this.
“Kenny Omega has not signed.
“It is not 100 per cent what he is going to do.”
Omega started out in WWE’s former developmental brand Deep South Wrestling in 2005 but left a year later after a lacklustre stint.
But he then found his groove at the independent circuit and made a name for himself in NJPW where he became IWGP Heavyweight, Intercontinental and United States Champion.
