Germany captain Philipp Lahm RETIRES from international football after World Cup triumph
PHILIPP LAHM has decided to hang up his international boots, just days after inspiring Germany to World Cup glory in Brazil.
The 30-year-old skippered the Germans to a 1-0 win over Argentina, with Mario Gotze slotting home an extra-time winner.
Reports in Germany suggest Lahm will step down from Die Manschaafft but he will honour his contract at Bayern Munich.
Lahm is contracted with the Bundesliga champions until 2018.
Lahm was something of a Germany legend, having made 113 appearances for his country.
