Jack Wilshere: Now's the time for England's fringe stars to stake World Cup claims
JACK WILSHERE believes England's fringe players face a defining couple of months, with the Arsenal star claiming their club form could determine whether or not they board the plane to Brazil.
Wilshere shrugged off an early ankle injury to play an hour of England's 1-0 win over Denmark last night.
But with Roy Hodgson naming his provisional World Cup squad in May, Wilshere believes players will make their cut depending on their form.
"We have all been working hard in training trying to impress the manager, but at the end of the day, it is your club form which will get you in," he said.
"These next two months are crucial, it is a big time of the season and then when the England squad is announced, you can only perform to the best of your ability."
Wilshere also expects to be fit for Arsenal's FA Cup quarter-final tie against Everton on Saturday.
He added: "It is a bit sore, but just a bruise. I have had a scan already and I will be alright."
