Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team give positive weight update ahead of UFC 219
KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV looks set to make weight for his long-awaited return to the Octagon.
Khabib Nurmagomedov, UFC lightweight title contender
Dagestan native Nurmagomedov makes his first appearance inside the cage in the co-main event of UFC 219, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The man tasked with the job of welcoming Nurmagomedov back to the Octagon and ending the 29-year-old’s unbeaten run is Edson Barboza, the No.3-ranked lightweight in the world.
The contest will be Nurmagomedov's first since his UFC 205 bout with Michael Johnson, which he won via a third round submission.
Nurmagomedov was due to fight Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight title in the co-main event of UFC 209 in March.
However, he was forced to withdraw from the bout due to complications with his weight cut.
Nurmagomedov’s failure to make the UFC 209 weigh-ins has led many wondering if he will have issues making weight for his fight with Barboza.
