Denis Shapovalov makes Queen’s admission ahead of Gilles Muller clash
DENIS SHAPOVALOV says he is delighted to be back at Queen’s among a stellar line-up.
Shapovalov has been handed the honour of opening the tournament on centre court this afternoon against Gilles Muller.
The Canadian has burst onto the scene over the last 12 months and he came through qualifying the reach the second round at Queen’s in 2017.
However, the youngster's ranking has since soured and he is the world No 23 heading into the grass-court season.
Shapovalov could face No 1 seed Marin Cilic in the next round – but he is not yet looking that far ahead and just wants to enjoy the occasion of playing the first game of the competition.

“It’s great to be back here,” Shapovalov said.
“I’ve been looking forward to the grass season, especially this tournament.”
Shapovalov will be followed on court by Stan Wawrinka vs British hopeful Cameron Norrie.
Andy Murray is not in action until Tuesday when he faces Nick Kyrgios.

And Shapovalov says he will be watching that intriguing clash from the best seats in the house.
“It is definitely another match and I want front row tickets to that,” he added.
“Nick is playing good tennis and I’m not sure if Andy is 100 per cent.
“It will be a difficult afternoon for Andy.”
