Wimbledon 2016: Andy Murray's second-round opponent Yen-Hsun Lu profiled
EXPRESS SPORT profiles Andy Murray’s next opponent, Yen-Hsun Lu.
Yen-Hsun Lu previously beat Andy Murray at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing
Standing between Andy Murray and a place in the third round of Wimbledon is Yen-Hsun Lu but just how much of a threat does the 32 year-old from Taiwan pose to the former champion?
Gamestyle
Nicknamed ‘Rendy’, Lu is a consummate professional with a ferocious work-ethic and he will have no regrets when he eventually hangs up his racket. He is a solid performer with excellent mobility, and baseline consistency is the foundation of his game.
Technically sound but without a signature shot, Lu does not possess an imposing serve to earn him easy points. He gives nothing away for free and is a tough player to overcome but at the highest level, more often than not, he has come up short.
Head to Head
Murray and Lu first met in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics and it was the unfancied man from Chinese Taipei who caused a notable upset with a quite excellent display to claim a major scalp in straight sets.
Much has changed in the intervening years and it is the Scot who has emerged victorious in their three other encounters. They have faced off on grass twice before - including at Wimbledon in 2013 - and Murray comfortably claimed both matches without conceding a set.
