Bad boy Nick Kyrgios fined for mocking umpire, throwing racket and swearing at Wimbledon
NICK KYRGIOS was yesterday counting the cost of his petulant behaviour at Wimbledon on Monday - precisely £6,090.
Nick Kyrgios has been fined for his behaviour
Of that, £4,800 was for unsportsmanlike behaviour such as applauding the umpire mockingly and flicking his racket. The additional £1,290 was for an audible obscenity.
His opponent Richard Gasquet also fell foul of the authorities, attracting a £1,900 fine for "abuse of racket" after smashing his against his chair.
Each individual offence carries a maximum fine of nearly £13,000, so the pair got off lightly.
Not least because Kyrgios pocketed £127,000 for reaching the fourth round while Gasquet is still in line for the £1.88m first prize.
