Another win for Andy Murray as he demolishes Qatar Open wild card in just 38 minutes
ANDY MURRAY barely had to break sweat as he raced to a 6-0, 6-0 win in the first round of the Qatar Open in Doha against a wild card from the host nation.
The Wimbledon champion needed just 38 minutes to beat 19-year-old opponent Mousa Shanan Zayed, ranked 2,129 in the world.
“It’s good to be back,” said Murray, who is preparing for an assault on the Australian Open in Melbourne later this month. “I will probably go and hit a few balls with my coach now as it was quite windy and there were not a lot of rallies in the match.”
Murray’s compatriot Dan Evans, who got in through qualifying, went out in the opening round as he lost in three sets to Latvia’s Ernests Gulbis 6-2, 4-6, 6-0.
