Holger Rune makes telling remark over coaching change after Patrick Mouratoglou split
Holger Rune has reshuffled his coaching team again.

The world No. 14 has cycled between different mentors over the last couple of years.
He ended his on-and-off partnership with Patrick Mouratoglou in July and has now rehired another familiar face.

Rune’s coaching situation has been up in the air since he and Mouratoglou parted ways for seemingly the final time over the summer. While the Frenchman moved on quickly, working with Naomi Osaka, it took the 21-year-old a while to find a new mentor.
After hiring some temporary voices, Rune has now reunited with his childhood coach Lars Christensen. “I am happy to work with Lars again,” the world No. 14 said in a statement.
“We have known each other for many years and have developed our very own tennis language together.
“During the past month, I have trained a few times with Lars when I have been in Denmark, and it has, among other things, had a really good effect on my serve.”

Rune initially worked with Christensen up until he hired Mouratoglou for the first time in late 2022. Rune and Mouratoglou briefly stopped working together a few months later and the 21-year-old had another brief spell with his childhood coach in 2023.
But the four-time title winner split with Christensen and Mouratoglou again and hired Boris Becker a year ago. Rune also added Roger Federer’s ex-coach Severin Luthi to his camp during the off-season and started 2024 with a super team of Becker and Luthi.
But both men quickly left the team when they struggled to make the schedule work and Rune got back with Mouratoglou for a third time. The Dane also worked with Kenneth Carlsen.
Rune’s partnership with Mouratoglou lasted another five months before they split again ahead of the North American summer. Carlsen remained part of his team but took a break ahead of the Asian swing, when the world No. 14 temporarily worked with Benjamin Ebrahimzadeh.

Carlsen will still be part of Rune’s camp alongside Christensen, who has joined the 21-year-old in Saudi Arabia for this week’s Six Kings Slam. “I have known Holger since he was a little boy with big dreams,” Christensen said.
“Now I look forward to working with him again and working hard to achieve the ambitious goals we both have on his behalf.
