Nick Kyrgios has never been shy to become embroiled in a feud but his latest spat with ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl Haliey Welch is one of his more unlikely battles. The viral social media star has now responded to the Australian after he mocked her recent appearance at the Jake Paul v Mike Perry boxing fight.

The official Boxing Kingdom X account posted a video of Welch arriving at ringside, seemingly having been given a VIP seat for the clash.

Her appearance proved popular with fans, with Paul stopping the former UFC fighter in the sixth round.

Kyrgios, 29, was less than impressed though. He responded to the footage by writing: “No correlation between fame and actually being decent at something anymore,” and added a laughter emoji for good measure.

By that point Welch had posted a series of videos on her TikTok platform, seen mixing with celebrities and fans. She was shown talking to WWE icon Hulk Hogan backstage, while ‘The Problem Child’ himself was videoed thanking her for attending, before joking around with her post-fight.

And after being stopped in the street by TMZ, Welch declined to get in a war of words with Kyrgios, instead claiming she was unperturbed by his post. “Ok, put it this way, I don’t wake up and hate on anybody else,” she replied.

“I don’t understand why people do that at all. I mean, they have their own opinion, they’re entitled to it, but I don’t care at all. If they wake up and feel that way and so be it. I’m not concerned about it.”

Welch became a viral internet star earlier this year after an interview with Tim & Dee TV in America. After making the 'Hawk Tuah' quip, seemingly a reference to a sexual act, she duly picked up millions of followers on social media.

The divisive Kyrgios, meanwhile, has been out of the action from tennis due to injury, and worked at Wimbledon last month as a commentator for the BBC. His appointment was met with widespread criticism, given he had previously been the subject of a common assault charge against a former partner.

But his work as a pundit was widely praised by fans, and after the event he expressed his desire to continue to mix his playing career with time in the commentary box. “Thank you ESPN and BBC Sport for the last two weeks,” he posted on X.

“We did some special things together. Created headlines and narrated highlights!!!! Can’t wait for more!!!!!”
