Why Novak Djokovic will be harder to beat for Roger Federer than Rafael Nadal - McEnroe
NOVAK DJOKOVIC will prove a tougher proposition for Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final than Rafael Nadal was in the last four.
Those are the thoughts of John McEnroe, who reckons Novak Djokovic will win his second successive Wimbledon men’s singles title.
Roger Federer beat Rafael Nadal in the semi-final on Centre Court on Friday.
The 37-year-old won in four sets in the duo’s first meeting since their epic final in 2008.
Djokovic himself also won in four sets earlier in the day, overcoming Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut who was participating in his first Grand Slam semi-final.
Roger Federer’s going to have to take it up another level to beat this guy
McEnroe believes the World No 1 is the favourite heading into Sunday’s final against Federer.
He doubts Djokovic will make the same mistakes that Nadal did.
The American predicts Djokovic to win his fourth title at Wimbledon in four sets.
“I expect that, believe it or not, that Roger Federer’s going to have to take it up another level to beat this guy.
“[Novak Djokovic] is tennis’ equivalent to a human backboard.
“He’s going to find a comfort level and he gets a lot more returns back in play.
“He’s not going to give up as much court position as, for me, Nadal did today.
“So it’s going to be a tougher task for Roger.
“Can he do it? Of course he can do it, he’s won it eight times.
“But here, I have to say I would, right at the moment, Novak, four sets.”
