Roger Federer ‘can’t believe’ what he did against Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon - Boris Becker
ROGER FEDERER could not believe how good he was in his Wimbledon semi-final victory over Rafael Nadal.
Wimbledon: Boris Becker reflects on Federer and Nadal rivalry
That is the opinion of Wimbledon legend and BBC commentator Boris Becker.
Federer beat Nadal in four sets on Centre Court in the pair’s first meeting at SW19 since 2008.
The Swiss took the first set but Rafael Nadal fought back by storming the second 6-1.
But Federer took control from there on and did not allow Nadal to get ahead.
He’s sort of smiling to himself, he can’t believe how he played
Federer’s win has set up a clash with World No 1 Novak Djokovic in Sunday’s final after the Serb beat Roberto Bautista Agut earlier in the day.
The 37-year-old is looking for his ninth men’s singles title at Wimbledon.
It would be his first Grand Slam victory since the Australian Open in 2018.
Becker says he has not seen Federer play as well he did for a while.
And he doubts whether Roger Federer himself knew he could play that well.
“Very much so [I enjoyed that],” Becker said.
“Federer walking off, he’s still shaking his head.
“He’s sort of smiling to himself, he can’t believe how he played.

“That’s the best I’ve seen him in a long time.
“The other day Rafa said he didn’t lose the match, the opponent won it.
“That’s what Roger did today.”
