Italian Open: Djokovic SLAMS reporter over ‘UNFAIR’ questions
Federer, who often comes under fire for favourable scheduling from tournament directors, requested to kick-start his Italian Open campaign on Wednesday.
The Swiss star explained he wanted to spend the weekend with his family in Switzerland before travelling to Rome.
World No 1 Djokovic was asked about his rival’s plans.
“Well I am not him so I cannot really answer,” Djokovic said.
“I don’t know him and I don’t know what he prefers.”
But when does Djokovic prefer to get his tournament underway?
“I actually like to start earlier so if I can start on Tuesday,” he added.
“But because I played the Madrid Open final then came here I was scheduled to play Wednesday.
“If I am not playing the week before then I would like to start earlier and have a day between the first and second match.”
Federer may have regretted picking a Wednesday start time in Rome as rain cancelled all matches that day.
It meant a host of top players, including Djokovic, had to play twice yesterday.
“It is unfortunate for the tournament to have rain all day,” Djokovic added.

“It is not common for the rain all day.
“It is a lot of complications and the schedule was completely full with singles, doubles, men, women.
“Maybe they should have played some guys from the seeds on Tuesday. Maybe not. I don’t know.
“In these kind of situations you think about what could have been done or not but it is just then nature.”
