What time does Rafael Nadal play TODAY? Estimated Barcelona Open start time for icon
RAFAEL NADAL takes on Dominic Thiem in the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open today, but what time is the tennis legend expected to take to the court?
The Spaniard will be looking to take another step closer to his 12th Barcelona Open title on Saturday afternoon.
It will also be the 12th time Nadal and Thiem have met throughout their careers.
Nadal has the better of the Austrian, winning eight of their 11 contests.
He has won seven matches on clay against his counterpart, losing three times.
The 32-year-old can cement his name in the history books if he goes all the way in Catalonia.
No player in history has ever won a tournament more than 11 times, something Rafael Nadal has achieved at Monte-Carlo, Barcelona and Roland Garros.
After falling short in Monaco last week, he’ll be desperate to dispatch Thiem and give himself another shot at glory.
Thiem should not be underestimated though, he has beaten Nadal on clay in each of the past three seasons.
Those victories came in Buenos Aires in 2016, Rome in 2017 and Madrid in 2018.
Should he upset the odds, he’ll become only the second player ever to defeat Nadal four times on clay.
The only man to do that, is Novak Djokovic.
Nadal is currently second in the world ranking, while Thiem in fifth.
