Novak Djokovic fears raised by Rafael Nadal insider at Monte Carlo Masters
RAFAEL NADAL’s coach Carlos Moya has revealed the dangers of Novak Djokovic.
Nadal and Djokovic are both competing at the Monte Carlo Masters and are in quarter-final action today.
The pair were placed in opposite halves of the draw so could meet in a blockbuster final.
However, scars may remain from Djokovic bruising victory over Nadal in the Australian Open final.
And there are worries the Serbian could hold the advantage over the King of Clay on his preferred surface.
"He has managed to beat Rafa at his best,” Moya said.
“If [Djokovic] is playing well, if he is at the level he showed at the Australian Open, logically he is a player who aspires to everything as well.
“But because it is an SUV, his way of playing hardly changes from one place to another.”
Nadal is expected to completely dominate the clay season and he has been in blistering form this week.
The world No 2 has not dropped a set in his opening two matches.
However, Alexander Zverev had a strong campaign on the red dirt in 2018 and could also pose a threat to the Spaniard.
"Today, all those who are above play well on all surfaces, Zverev is one of those examples,” Moya added.
“He has very good speed, but he is also good on clay, maybe on clay he gives a little more time.
“On hard courts and it is true that this year he has not reached its best yet.
“He is a young player, who is in projection, and sooner or later will link several good weeks and will get back into the fight."
