Miami Open: Roger Federer celebrates defeating Isner in final
The American was looking to defend his title from last year’s tournament, but unfortunately this time around it wasn’t to be.
Roger Federer asserted his dominance from the first serve, breaking all three of Isner’s serves in the first set.
The Swiss took the set 6-1 as Isner struggled to get going and establish himself at the Hard Rock Stadium.
But things took a turn for the worse just at the wrong moment for the world No 9.
Just as he was beginning to get himself back into the game, breaking Roger Federer, he jolted his knee awkwardly on the surface.
He immediately knew that something wasn’t right.
Receiving treatment from his physio, Isner knew that he would not be able to turn things around back he decided to soldier on with not long left to play.
Once returning to the court, he was moving gingerly which saw Federer breeze the final few games.
