Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal combined equals Novak Djokovic - huge claim
ROGER FEDERER and Rafael Nadal combined equals Novak Djokovic, according to Portuguese tennis star Joao Sousa.
Federer, Nadal and Djokovic remain tennis’ biggest attractions despite all three players entering the twilight years of his career.
Djokovic is primed to overtake Nadal at the top of the ATP Tour rankings on Monday, regardless of how he fares at the Paris Masters.
The Serb is in action against Roger Federer later today in the Paris Masters semi-finals, where he will be aiming to add another trophy to his illustrious collection.
And Sousa believes Djokovic is the perfect blend of both Federer and Nadal.
He said: “[He is] a bit of both (Federer and Nadal).
“The) Perfect combination.”
Sousa also praised Federer, saying: “Class.
“He makes everything look easier. It's absurd.”
And, when asked about Nadal he said: “Unreal power, fight, attitude.”
Meanwhile, former tennis star Jonas Bjorkman rates the trio as a class above.
And that is because he reckons they have rejuvenated tennis during their time at the top.
“They thought in a completely different way than the way players did at the beginning of my career like Mats Wilander, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi,” the former world No. 4 told Expressen.
Paris Masters: Federer admits he’s ‘not at his best’ after win
“When I started playing, the best players could feel sometimes for some of their opponents.
“Sampras rarely won 6-0, even if he could it for many times in his career.”
Federer and Djokovic face off later today.
But Nadal is still currently taking time out of the game in order to regain his fitness.
