Murray is set to make his Grand Slam return after missing the last four.
The Scot’s last major appearance was a quarter-final defeat to Sam Querrey at Wimbledon last year.
His rank has slipped to 378th in the world but will compete at Flushing Meadows because of his protected ranking.
The former world number one won his first major title at the US Open in 2012.
The 31-year-old recently featured in tournaments in Washington and Cincinnati ahead of final major of the season.
He won three matches at the Citi Open in Washington, including a second-round victory over new British number one Kyle Edmund, but lost out to France's Lucas Pouille in the first round at Cincinnati.
The US Open commences on Monday, August 27 at Flushing Meadows in New York City.
Murray is unseeded for the event and he is currently available at odds of 25/1 to win.
