Brian Noble’s grand plan for Salford
BRIAN NOBLE has vowed to turn Salford into a major Super League force after he was unveiled as head coach.
The scale of this place is immeasurable.
The former Great Britain boss, who guided Bradford to five successive Grand Finals between 2001 and 2005, winning three of them, inherits a side bottom of the table.
But Noble, 52, believes perennial strugglers Salford can emerge as a serious power in the game with the backing of wealthy benefactor Marwan Koukash.
Koukash, a multi-millionaire racehorse owner, rescued the club in January and has pledged to sign up to 10 new players and spend the full £1.8 million salary cap in 2014.
Noble, who has signed an 18-month contract, said: “The ambition of the owner is there for all to see. There’s no reason why in a few years Salford can’t be up there with the likes of Leeds and Warrington, Wigan and St Helens and having wonderful evenings here.
“The scale of this place is immeasurable. That should drive you and the players. Everyone involved can latch on to that.
“We are in one of our biggest cities and we can go places. I’d like to be a part of that.”
