Dan Carter: Preparation key for the biggest game of my life
DAN CARTER says he is ready for the game of his life when New Zealand play Australia in the World Cup final next weekend.
Rugby: Australia won't rely on past success on Sunday, says coach
Fly-half Carter has never played in the final of rugby’s elite international tournament.
He missed out in 2007 when the All Blacks went down to France in the quarter-finals and sat out their final victory over the French four years later with a groin injury.
“I’ve never been involved in a World Cup final before and I'm pretty excited about that and I can't wait to get into training and prepare as well as I possibly can.
“It's why we are here, to give ourselves the chance to win back-to-back World Cups.
“It's not done yet, there's still a huge challenge ahead of us.”
Carter’s team-mate Bodie Rettalick, who played the full game against the Springboks, will also be making his first appearance in a World Cup final.
Dan Carter will play at 10 for New Zealand in Saturday's World Cup final
Discussing preparations for the game, the second-row said: “We won't do a hell of a lot different.
“Everyone's got their own process and what they need to get through during the week to get ready towards the weekend.
“Recovery will be a big part of that.”
