STUART LANCASTER will not resign in the wake of the World Cup failure despite further attacks on his stewardship of the England side from Premiership coaches yesterday.

Danny Care, the player who knows him best in the England squad having worked with him as a 15-year-old at the Leeds Academy, believes Lancaster will shrug off the criticism and fight for the right to remain in post.

"He is a fighter, I know that. He has worked so hard all his life to get this job. I don't think you'll see Stuart Lancaster walking away from anything," said Care.
"He's taking a lot of stick at the moment - as everyone is - but it is a measure of him that he fronts it up every day and doesn't shirk it."
