Scotland's Sean Lamont keen to expose vulnerable France
SCOTLAND wing Sean Lamont wants his side to adopt the Wales template against a brittle France at Murrayfield this evening.
Scotland have not beaten France in eight attempts but Lamont feels a side radically overhauled after the 27-6 defeat in Cardiff a fortnight ago are vulnerable if the Scots can put them under the same levels of stress.
“They got lucky when they beat England last month and then they crumbled under the Welsh pressure. We must aim to do the same as the Welsh. We also have plenty of passion – that is what we live off,” said Lamont.
“The pressure is off a little after the win in Italy but one swallow doesn’t make a summer and one success will not mean a good tournament.
“A group of players like us needs to be getting more than one win – we need to be doing more than just beating Italy.
“We need to back up that result now and then do it all over again when we take on Wales down there next weekend.
“We need to be striving for that second and even third win over the next year or two, and then we can start challenging for the fourth and fifth victories – the grand slam stuff.”
Scotland’s replacement prop Al Dickinson has failed to shake off the effects of a calf injury sustained in the win against Italy and his place has gone to Exeter-bound Moray Low.
Kick-off 5pm, TV: BBC 1 5pm.
