Back row will provide Warren Gatland with Lions selection headache says McGeechan
SIR IAN McGEECHAN thinks Warren Gatland has a selection headache ahead of the Lions squad announcement.
The squad announcement will be made on April 30, and McGeechan, who coached the Lions to victory in South Africa in 1997, thinks some very good players could miss the boat.
McGeechan also admitted a sense of nervousness and trepidation when he was coach in the run-up to the squad announcement, but he said sometimes coaches have to go on 'gut instinct'.
He said: "A significant dilemma for Warren Gatland will be back row. There will be some very good players that don't make the tour.
"It is a huge strength we have got and we some fascinating combinations so I think they'll have changed their mind a few times."
